Ever since GTA 3 Rockstar has used comic book-style art for Grand Theft Auto video game boxes, and the depictions of GTA Trilogy's characters are the closest the company has ever come to bringing the box art to life. The stylistic new art style for GTA Trilogy's characters also looks similar to the character art found on GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas' box art and loading screens. Why GTA Trilogy's Graphics Aren't A Bad Thing With both Grand Theft Auto 4 and Grand Theft Auto 5 Rockstar went in a more grounded, realistic direction, but GTA: San Andreas still contained the earlier games' cartoonish gameplay and charm. This criticism can really only be leveled at GTA Trilogy's characters. While no one expected the GTA Trilogy's graphics to be on par with recent Rockstar Games releases like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto 5, they likely expected them to look somewhat more realistic than the originals - not less.
